Well, here is one site that lists a plethora of free software websites. Right now I am downloading the Alfresco community software. It's a document management package. There seem to be some reputable companies using them (PGA Tour and Saks Fifth Ave being a couple of them).<br />
<br />
Of course, there is the free version and the paid version. The paid version gives you support, while on the community (free) version, you have video tutorials and documents to read. I don't mind doing the legwork and learning on my own, so community seems like it will be a good fit for me. Did I mention that it's free? :D<br />
<br />
Here's the link if you would like to play with it:<br />

<br />
That's all for now.<br />

However, you can earn a % cashback for each purchase you make. I'm talking about <a href="http://www.ebates.com/rf.do?referrerid=wn%2FFY6%2FjC39b2Ed0DGpVyQ%3D%3D&eeid=26471" target="_blank">eBates.com</a>. The have many stores that they work with, in which most of us buy online from anyways. There is Amazon, Wal-Mart, KMart, Target, PetSmart, Best Buy, Michaels, Joann Fabrics, Groupon and Overstock.com to name a few.<br />
<br />
If you are going to shop online, this one extra step will save you lots of money.<br />

<br />
Thank you to everyone who has given me the love and support I have needed during this difficult time. I felt it was time to continue to help more creative people. So, I found a coupon for Scrivener.<br />
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-LeyK6YqbQDE/UythY3GvC-I/AAAAAAAABA0/sJxihBtm9Po/s1600/win-showcase-scrivener_header.png" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><br /></a><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-LeyK6YqbQDE/UythY3GvC-I/AAAAAAAABA0/sJxihBtm9Po/s1600/win-showcase-scrivener_header.png" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-LeyK6YqbQDE/UythY3GvC-I/AAAAAAAABA0/sJxihBtm9Po/s1600/win-showcase-scrivener_header.png" height="57" width="200" /></a> <br />
<h2 style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-KgC-OzJ7Yc4/UythiTMAZcI/AAAAAAAABA8/X1vuCiRG4jo/s1600/showcase-scrivener_header.png" height="58" width="200" /><span id="goog_1585141586"></span><span id="goog_1585141587"></span><a href="https://www.blogger.com/"></a></h2>
I absolutely love this program! It has made organization of my story lines, characterizations and locales a snap! Probably my favourite part is the corkboard. I am a visual person, so seeing my chapter summaries on one page helps me tremendously. It also helps me see the "holes" in the story.<br />
<br />
<h3>
Lest I forget, here's the coupon for 20% off Scrivener: WORDSWITHJAM</h3>
<div>
As of 03/20/2014, it was still available.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Here are some screenshots of the features from their website. I am giving my thoughts about each feature, however for more details, go to their site: <a href="http://literatureandlatte.com/scrivener.php" target="_blank">Scrivener</a>.</div>
<div>
<u><br /></u></div>
<h3>
<u>Corkboard</u></h3>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-sONj1qC8HME/UytihMH06FI/AAAAAAAABBE/B3PtNhnKLBI/s1600/win-feature-corkboard.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-sONj1qC8HME/UytihMH06FI/AAAAAAAABBE/B3PtNhnKLBI/s1600/win-feature-corkboard.jpg" height="176" width="400" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The corkboard utilizes virtual index cards in which you can add summaries to. The beautiful thing about it is, that if you move a card, then the document linked to it also moves. No more tedious copy/paste of large info blocks. You can colour-code and label, group documents, and stack cards.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h3>
<u>Outliner</u></h3>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-dxsFjq_7tSI/UytjbRK7x5I/AAAAAAAABBM/z4GNzfWjE_g/s1600/win-feature-outliner-lg.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-dxsFjq_7tSI/UytjbRK7x5I/AAAAAAAABBM/z4GNzfWjE_g/s1600/win-feature-outliner-lg.jpg" height="278" width="400" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I use the outliner to organize my ideas. I love having the labels, modified date and word count. Of course, the colour-coding appeals to the visual artist in me. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h3>
<u>Scrivenings</u></h3>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-fVPQ6zz4INA/UytlaFAAJTI/AAAAAAAABBY/8X8uv8F-rEo/s1600/win-feature-scrivenings.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-fVPQ6zz4INA/UytlaFAAJTI/AAAAAAAABBY/8X8uv8F-rEo/s1600/win-feature-scrivenings.jpg" height="182" width="400" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
This feature allows you to view the flow of your project. It allows you to scroll from section to section. This is a more detail-oriented way of editing for errors, flow, etc. It takes multiple documents and allows you to edit them as one.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h3>
<u>Text Editing</u></h3>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-JEJfDS75ZAs/UytluMXIKGI/AAAAAAAABBg/-8oLcNRIzRI/s1600/win-feature-text_editing-lg.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-JEJfDS75ZAs/UytluMXIKGI/AAAAAAAABBg/-8oLcNRIzRI/s1600/win-feature-text_editing-lg.jpg" height="391" width="400" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
When using this, you can highlight, change text colour, add bulletpoints, lists, etc. The best part is, you can create your document in the font you like, but export or print it in the font required by the publicists!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h3>
<u>Tools for Writing Non-Fiction</u></h3>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ASAjIF4c7FQ/UytqVJmPlUI/AAAAAAAABBs/a9Cj5Ise1SU/s1600/feature-mathtype.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ASAjIF4c7FQ/UytqVJmPlUI/AAAAAAAABBs/a9Cj5Ise1SU/s1600/feature-mathtype.jpg" height="400" width="278" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
There are all sorts of tools to use. From a non-fiction manuscript template, to a research proposal, a humanities essay, even a recipe collection template. You can do research online from within the program. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h3>
<u>Scriptwriting</u></h3>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-gLyAIEsjER4/UytqhL2rTpI/AAAAAAAABB0/rCyCNOvw07M/s1600/win-feature-scriptwriting-lg.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-gLyAIEsjER4/UytqhL2rTpI/AAAAAAAABB0/rCyCNOvw07M/s1600/win-feature-scriptwriting-lg.jpg" height="400" width="252" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The things I could have done easier in school, had I this scriptwriting tool. To be able to see the storyboard at the same time as you write the script? Heaven. *sigh*</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h3>
<u>Statistics and Targets</u></h3>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-IDc-kgb_168/UytrCpXOT4I/AAAAAAAABB8/uFT2Be_E3FE/s1600/win-feature-statistics.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-IDc-kgb_168/UytrCpXOT4I/AAAAAAAABB8/uFT2Be_E3FE/s1600/win-feature-statistics.jpg" height="290" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
No more tedious counting or aimless guesses. You know exactly what you have.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h3>
<u>Snapshots</u></h3>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-KUGsY4SgWBo/UytrgaaLkzI/AAAAAAAABCE/m224TIMn000/s1600/win-feature-snapshots-lg.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-KUGsY4SgWBo/UytrgaaLkzI/AAAAAAAABCE/m224TIMn000/s1600/win-feature-snapshots-lg.jpg" height="337" width="400" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Before making a major edit, take a snapshot and then move on. You will have a history of edits that you can go back to.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h3>
<u>Full Screen - Evolved</u></h3>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7kAd7UZzc7s/Uy1NJKfWKSI/AAAAAAAABCU/u3t5jheN29A/s1600/win-feature-fullscreen-lg.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-7kAd7UZzc7s/Uy1NJKfWKSI/AAAAAAAABCU/u3t5jheN29A/s1600/win-feature-fullscreen-lg.jpg" height="250" width="400" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
With multiple options, you can customize your look and make it fullscreen so you won't be tempted to do something else when you are supposed to be writing.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h3>
<u>Integration Between the Corkboard, Outliner and Editor</u></h3>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-aJ5kxRIYpv0/Uy1QYp4vRSI/AAAAAAAABCg/jk36PAUsD3s/s1600/win-integration-lg.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-aJ5kxRIYpv0/Uy1QYp4vRSI/AAAAAAAABCg/jk36PAUsD3s/s1600/win-integration-lg.jpg" height="322" width="400" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
You can switch between views with a click or a combination key stroke. Very easy to move back and forth.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h3>
<u>Collections</u></h3>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-1c1KXCKE5sk/Uy1RKNawzaI/AAAAAAAABCo/vjcyOtfwuCY/s1600/win-feature-collections-lg.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-1c1KXCKE5sk/Uy1RKNawzaI/AAAAAAAABCo/vjcyOtfwuCY/s1600/win-feature-collections-lg.jpg" height="260" width="400" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
With collections, you can have running, colour-coded tabs along side of your main story. You can track drafts, characters and story lines.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h3>
<u>Name Generator</u></h3>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-OqfJv83oTKU/Uy1R1uu3q3I/AAAAAAAABCw/CwKTgLy-stg/s1600/win-namegen-lg.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-OqfJv83oTKU/Uy1R1uu3q3I/AAAAAAAABCw/CwKTgLy-stg/s1600/win-namegen-lg.jpg" height="320" width="308" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Most of the time, we have the names of our protagonists. However, once you start adding secondary and tertiary characters, it can get tedious to come up with names. The name generator can help you with that.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h3>
<u>Automatic Backups</u></h3>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-yMarfbMy5wA/Uy1SV1Uo-tI/AAAAAAAABC4/MWbyMbe6L6A/s1600/win-feature-autobackup.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-yMarfbMy5wA/Uy1SV1Uo-tI/AAAAAAAABC4/MWbyMbe6L6A/s1600/win-feature-autobackup.jpg" height="201" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The final feature I want to discuss is the auto-backup feature. I don't know about you, but once I get ensconced in a project, I suddenly lose track of time. It gives me peace of mind to know that the program is doing an auto-backup. If a storm suddenly pops up and causes your power to go out, there is the peace of knowing that there is a backup available.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Well, I hope this has given you some insight into one of my favourite programs. I know that I try to find as many free options as I can. While this does give you 30 days free trial, it will still cost you something. However, if you are serious about writing, this will give you an immense advantage in the organization of your work and multiple projects.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>

Keep Creating,</div>

I will miss him dearly. We created a fund in lieu of flowers. We raised $300.00:<br />
<br />
<div style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px; margin-bottom: 9px;">
My father, Juan Ortiz, spent his life in service of his country. First in the Marine Corps and then as an United States Diplomat. He was quiet, calm and witty. Although he didn't usually say much, when he did say something, it had great value. He loved the NY Giants, Mets and Knicks. Most of all, he loved God and his family.</div>
<div style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px; margin-bottom: 9px;">
He had a special place in his heart for children. He really liked St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital. This is the mission statement from their website: "The mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is to advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. Consistent with the vision of our founder Danny Thomas, no child is denied treatment based on race, religion or a family's ability to pay."</div>
<div style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px; margin-bottom: 9px;">
As a family, we decided to set up a fund in lieu of flowers. When the fundraiser ends, we will make a donation in memory of him. </div>
<div style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; line-height: 20px; margin-bottom: 9px;">
Thank you to all of you who have sent us your prayers, good wishes, meals and help during this difficult time. We love you.</div>

It helps to make sure that no "tag-along" toolbars, search engines, etc. are downloaded when you download software online. Basically, it makes sure that all check boxes are unchecked when you are downloading your software. This means that if you want something, you are the only one allowing permission to download it. You can get it here:

As I have very little free time, it's taking an enormous amount of energy and time to do. However, I have not forgotten you. I found a lovely site that can be used free to make forms. It can be surveys, inventory lists for ordering, etc. It is really user friendly and works well for a visual person like me. It feels intuitive to me. This is what the free site includes:<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
----------</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Starter<br />
FREE</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
----------<br />
100<br />
Monthly Submissions, 10 SSL Secure Submissions, 10 Receive Payments</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
----------<br />
100 MB<br />
Available Space</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
----------<br />
1<br />
Sub-user Account</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
----------<br />
Unlimited<br />
Forms, Reports<br />
Fields per Form</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
----------</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Even if you need more than what the free site provides, it is still a reasonably priced service. I know, I know... I have kept in suspense enough. Here's the link: <a href="http://www.jotform.com/"target="_blank"> www.jotform.com </a><br />

The residential home was burnt to the ground in a fire. Due to the fact that the smoke alarms were not functioning, that person did not wake up and could not get out of their home in time. Please, don't let something like this happen to you. Our fire department had suggested checking the smoke alarms a minimum of twice a year. Choose a date that will stick out for you. I personally feel that Daylight Savings Time is perfect for this.
<br></br>
If you are in the United States, Daylight Savings Time starts on the second Sunday in March and ends on the first Sunday in November. For 2013, that is March 10th at 2:00 a.m. (becomes 3:00 a.m. "Spring Forward") and November 3rd at 2:00 a.m. (becomes 1:00 a.m. "Fall Back").
<br></br>
For those people in other countries, here is a good site to visit: <a href="http://www.worldtimezone.com/daylight.html" target="_blank">World Time Zone Daylight Savings Time</a>.
<br></br>
Stay safe,

I have been making sure to make time for drawing, painting and graphic design. I feel much more balanced now. That is so important. Day-to-day issues prevent us from doing the projects that make us feel happy, balanced and whole. Make sure to make time for that. It is well worth it!<p>My latest freebie find... this one is for all walks of life! <a href=http://education-portal.com/articles/List_of_Free_Online_Commercial_Art_and_Design_Courses_and_Learning_Materials.html>"List of Free Online Commercial Art and Design Courses and Learning Materials"</a></p><p>Keep creating!</p><p>Jannina</p>.::MoonDreams::.http://www.blogger.com/profile/01018949758421862172noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5150781892554521143.post-53806648635241728162012-05-07T17:47:00.000-04:002012-05-07T17:47:54.705-04:00Combo Maker - Free and Fun!Okay. I will not lie to you. These past few months have been some of my best and at the same time, some of my worst. I have had so much to deal with, that I barely had time for painting and designing. I felt like a limb had been sawed off. There is still a lot to work through, but little by little, I am getting back into my element. As life as been so stressful, I decided to look for a program that was just plain fun! You can find it here: <a href="http://www.colorcombos.com/combomaker.html#"> Combo Maker</a>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-rzI7VDWQiKQ/T6g_kOc7uqI/AAAAAAAAAFc/TIIS_h1htwM/s1600/Combo%2BMaker%2BScreenshot.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="252" width="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-rzI7VDWQiKQ/T6g_kOc7uqI/AAAAAAAAAFc/TIIS_h1htwM/s320/Combo%2BMaker%2BScreenshot.jpg" /></a></div>
I think there are many palette generators out there. All are valuable. What makes Combo Maker stand out from the crowd is the fact that you can take your palette and show it off in the way that would most help your site, blog, etc. Here are some examples on the different options that you have:
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-hXbNh7y36CM/T6hAGwgh1gI/AAAAAAAAAFo/wbsut1n6KIw/s1600/png.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="142" width="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-hXbNh7y36CM/T6hAGwgh1gI/AAAAAAAAAFo/wbsut1n6KIw/s320/png.png" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hG5uBxFZsfI/T6hAHJEpjuI/AAAAAAAAAF0/9W3MXBFI-0o/s1600/png%2B%25281%2529.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="95" width="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-hG5uBxFZsfI/T6hAHJEpjuI/AAAAAAAAAF0/9W3MXBFI-0o/s320/png%2B%25281%2529.png" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QjJ-kKCX2Zw/T6hAHXdZSuI/AAAAAAAAAGA/4NtCMSSmkYI/s1600/png%2B%25283%2529.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="109" width="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-QjJ-kKCX2Zw/T6hAHXdZSuI/AAAAAAAAAGA/4NtCMSSmkYI/s320/png%2B%25283%2529.png" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_HK-yySRRBk/T6hAHuYAeMI/AAAAAAAAAGM/tPqeBvUdDs4/s1600/png%2B%25282%2529.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="201" width="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-_HK-yySRRBk/T6hAHuYAeMI/AAAAAAAAAGM/tPqeBvUdDs4/s320/png%2B%25282%2529.png" /></a></div>
As you can tell, I changed the background colour of the first image (the balloons). That is another option available to you. Sometimes you need a very simple, clean presentation such as squares or circles. Other times, you need to invoke a sense of fun! With this palette generator, you have options. Its web-based, so no stress on your hard drive. I have not had any issues or trouble loading it up when I need it. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did! :)
<br></br>
Keep Creating,
<br></br>

Thanks to my friend Ed, I have a new and fun toy to play with: <a href="http://www.perfect365.com/"> Perfect365 by ArcSoft </a>. <br />
<br />
As with most programs, there is a free version and an upgraded ($29.95 USD) version. This program comes in a Windows, Mac, iPhone and iPad version. You take a photo of a person and can easily manipulate their make-up. You can also use it to remove blemishes. It was meant to enhance natural looks, but there are a decent amount of colours to create fun, "high-fashion" looks. It comes with one-click presets, but there are more online that you can download. I decided to have fun with some pictures I had of myself. Take a look!<br />
<br />
Here is an image I had:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-uw43fQ2ThjE/TxzBUTmcnHI/AAAAAAAAAEE/jr_GEU9Yqcc/s1600/Jannina%2B1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="242" width="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-uw43fQ2ThjE/TxzBUTmcnHI/AAAAAAAAAEE/jr_GEU9Yqcc/s320/Jannina%2B1.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Now here it is with a little "enhancement":<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-qdN9jgxvtms/TxzBc3rWCtI/AAAAAAAAAEQ/7HYX6SFKVao/s1600/Perfect365%2Bjlo.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="242" width="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-qdN9jgxvtms/TxzBc3rWCtI/AAAAAAAAAEQ/7HYX6SFKVao/s320/Perfect365%2Bjlo.jpg" /></a></div><br />
The next two are one-click presets that are part of the program. Supposedly, every Friday they will have new one to download. The first one is "breeze" and the second one is "glow."<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3RiJHNVSQOo/TxzCBjxBLLI/AAAAAAAAAEc/fnSzPeKx6fg/s1600/Perfect365%2Bjlo%2Bbreeze%2Bpreset.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="320" width="251" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3RiJHNVSQOo/TxzCBjxBLLI/AAAAAAAAAEc/fnSzPeKx6fg/s320/Perfect365%2Bjlo%2Bbreeze%2Bpreset.jpg" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ABvKtNFNteM/TxzCB2dde1I/AAAAAAAAAEk/lAegKN0GUKA/s1600/Perfect365%2Bjlo%2Bglow%2Bpreset.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="320" width="251" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ABvKtNFNteM/TxzCB2dde1I/AAAAAAAAAEk/lAegKN0GUKA/s320/Perfect365%2Bjlo%2Bglow%2Bpreset.jpg" /></a></div><br />
Finally, I have three pictures that I did manually. The first one is me with my brown eyes, in the second one I have dark grey eyes and in the third one I have light grey eyes. Ever wondered what coloured contacts would look like on you? Here's your chance to find out.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-XL_efJu9MGs/TxzCiGQwudI/AAAAAAAAAE0/MEBHquiG1_I/s1600/Perfect365%2Bjlo2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="320" width="251" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-XL_efJu9MGs/TxzCiGQwudI/AAAAAAAAAE0/MEBHquiG1_I/s320/Perfect365%2Bjlo2.jpg" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Ifjy6QpJ-C4/TxzCiM_xn4I/AAAAAAAAAFA/pb929_rXle4/s1600/Perfect365%2Bjlo3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="320" width="251" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Ifjy6QpJ-C4/TxzCiM_xn4I/AAAAAAAAAFA/pb929_rXle4/s320/Perfect365%2Bjlo3.jpg" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-FOPngg2m-q8/TxzCilshpjI/AAAAAAAAAFM/m110qVIsx10/s1600/Perfect365%2Bjlo4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="320" width="251" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-FOPngg2m-q8/TxzCilshpjI/AAAAAAAAAFM/m110qVIsx10/s320/Perfect365%2Bjlo4.jpg" /></a></div><br />
So, that is it for Perfect365. It is a fun way to do a make-over. Have fun with it and keep creating!<br />

I just wanted to let you know that this program does not work with Windows Vista or above. I will be creating a new post with other alternatives. Thanks! Jannina<br />

<br />
Happy Holidays, everyone! I found two interesting sites. The first one provides 100% free for commercial use fonts:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.fontsquirrel.com/"> Font Squirrel</a> <br />
<br />
The second one provides 10,000 fonts that are allowed for commercial use. You have to pay $19.99 for the download. It's a pretty inexpensive option if you are just starting out and do not want to have to go through hundreds of fonts to find the commercial use ones. The licensing is for one work station. If you want to use the fonts on multiple computers, you have to purchase another license per station. Here's the link:<br />
<br />

<br />
I hope your Thanksgiving was fun. Have a great holiday season!<br />

I'm sorry. Life has been so busy lately. Between school, work, friends and family, I'm barely getting any sleep. This is just a quick note to let you know of a program that I found. <br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.splashup.com">Splashup</a><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ZN_9OFmC1mw/Ts_5jw1T3YI/AAAAAAAAAD4/pEhpMNDnmRI/s1600/Splashup%2Bimage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left:1em; margin-right:1em"><img border="0" height="242" width="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ZN_9OFmC1mw/Ts_5jw1T3YI/AAAAAAAAAD4/pEhpMNDnmRI/s320/Splashup%2Bimage.jpg" /></a></div><br />
<br />
It has a Photoshop/Gimp feel to it. You don't have to download it; you can use it on the web. Although I do miss the luxury of having my brushes on there, it is a really cool program. Especially if you are on the go and need to do a quick rendering for a job or to better explain what you mean in regards to design and colours.<br />
<br />
Keep creating!<br />

Colour blindness is actually a misnomer. Colour vision deficiency is the correct term. If you have colour blindness, you are still able to see hues. It gets more complicated when you try to differentiate tones and shades. So why did I not use the correct term in the title? Most people would not search for colour vision deficiency. There is a blog called colbindor.com that speaks to people with colour vision deficiency. If you go to this page, you can view the FAQ that the author has regarding it. This was definitely an eye opener for me. I had never thought about how this affected others. <br />
<br />
The author has a tool that helps anyone with colour vision deficiency keep colors straight. It breaks down the colour by hue. <br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.colblindor.com/color-name-hue"> Color Name & Hue</a><br />
<br />
Using the simulator (found here: <a href="http://www.colblindor.com/coblis-color-blindness-simulator"> Coblis Colour Blindness Simulator</a>) I will show you the images that simulate each type of color vision deficiency.<br />
<br />
Here is an example of a design I created (normal color vision):<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qKKU9q5hfTs/Th-vxMmnRoI/AAAAAAAAACw/EGnw7_AMayM/s1600/Normal%2BBohemian.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="284" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qKKU9q5hfTs/Th-vxMmnRoI/AAAAAAAAACw/EGnw7_AMayM/s320/Normal%2BBohemian.jpg" width="283" /></a></div><br />

Blue-weak/Tritanomaly:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-UiVOD5h9Wgw/Th-wPJGUo9I/AAAAAAAAADg/6KsK7iD70gg/s1600/Blue-weak%2BBohemian.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="284" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-UiVOD5h9Wgw/Th-wPJGUo9I/AAAAAAAAADg/6KsK7iD70gg/s320/Blue-weak%2BBohemian.jpg" width="284" /></a></div><br />
Monochromacy/Achromatopsia:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-M6OXU1s4FZw/Th-wXjShsEI/AAAAAAAAADo/9lLYrGg-0-w/s1600/Monochromacy%2BBohemian.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="284" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-M6OXU1s4FZw/Th-wXjShsEI/AAAAAAAAADo/9lLYrGg-0-w/s320/Monochromacy%2BBohemian.jpg" width="284" /></a></div><br />
Blue Cone Monochromacy:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-FKLJURHS9TM/Th-wbGYYmhI/AAAAAAAAADw/9l7rl9Lp92s/s1600/Blue%2BCone%2BMonochromacy%2BBohemian.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="284" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-FKLJURHS9TM/Th-wbGYYmhI/AAAAAAAAADw/9l7rl9Lp92s/s320/Blue%2BCone%2BMonochromacy%2BBohemian.jpg" width="284" /></a></div><br />
This is a close simulation, but of course, it all depends on the severity of the condition. As you can see, each deficiency causes the design to change. However, the essence of the design remains the same throughout. Even in the case of Achromatopsia, the design is still intricate and contrasting enough that a person with color vision deficiency would be able to comment about, appreciate and enjoy it. <br />
<br />
I don’t know if many designers even consider colour blindness when designing, but I found it fascinating. I hope you enjoyed learning about this misunderstood and often overlooked condition.<br />
<br />
Keep creating!<br />

I just keep finding more and more generators. The good thing about it is that you can find the one that suits you best. Enjoy playing with all of them! <br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.worqx.com/color/palette.html"> Worqx.com Colour Palette Generator</a><br />
This one has a set number of colours to choose from, but I really enjoy how it splits them up into blocks. It helps view the relationship of each colour to the next. Although this is not my favourite colour palette generator, the site itself has a plethora of information relating to colour. I definitely advise going here if you want to learn more about colour theory.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-CCtsPJyOUL0/ThqYBHoeXRI/AAAAAAAAACQ/A_GCh0ZWz5M/s1600/worqx%2Bcolour%2Bpalette.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="182" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-CCtsPJyOUL0/ThqYBHoeXRI/AAAAAAAAACQ/A_GCh0ZWz5M/s320/worqx%2Bcolour%2Bpalette.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xQxVFRYkJSM/ThqYFh8m9xI/AAAAAAAAACY/Fryz0l9r-tU/s1600/worqx%2Bcolour%2Bpalette%2B2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="229" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-xQxVFRYkJSM/ThqYFh8m9xI/AAAAAAAAACY/Fryz0l9r-tU/s320/worqx%2Bcolour%2Bpalette%2B2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<a href="http://r0k.us/graphics/SIHwheel.html"> Interactive Colour Wheel</a><br />
This one has a colour wheel that you can click on. It also shows a list of colours that are already named. It might help with naming your palette or design. The feature that I love the most is that when you select a colour, it gives you the code for the complement of that colour. In this example, Turkish Rose has the complimentary colour of Acapulco (a teal colour). You can list the colours alphabetically, hue, hex, luma, luminance, average, h:rgb, h:lab, h:hsb. It has a colour list that lists them by Name that colour, Resene 2010, W3c and Crayola crayons. What fun!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-PaBb4TsRb2s/ThqYMsRQ6NI/AAAAAAAAACg/DPOifcCluzc/s1600/Interactive%2BColour%2BWheel.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="262" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-PaBb4TsRb2s/ThqYMsRQ6NI/AAAAAAAAACg/DPOifcCluzc/s320/Interactive%2BColour%2BWheel.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
The final one I wanted to go over was <a href="http://meyerweb.com/eric/tools/color-blend"> Color Blender</a>. This is a great tool if you want to depict a gradient-type look in a design.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-IGTrsw4PHPU/ThqYQ24iumI/AAAAAAAAACo/MuqLyupCYxY/s1600/Colour%2BBlender.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-IGTrsw4PHPU/ThqYQ24iumI/AAAAAAAAACo/MuqLyupCYxY/s320/Colour%2BBlender.jpg" width="296" /></a></div><br />
Hope you have fun - Keep creating!<br />

Sorry for that. Life sometimes gets complicated. Anyways, have you ever seen an image or artwork that just makes you feel emotions? Whether happy, sad, angry, warm, chilled or at peace? Perhaps it triggers a memory for you. There are times when I want to get in touch with those emotions when creating my artwork. One way to do that is to use the same colour palette that was used in that image or artwork. So, here's a couple of websites that you can go to in order to create those palettes. I am going to use an image as an example to show you how it works. This is a picture that I took of Napa Valley:<br />
<br />
<object width="450" height="360"><param name="movie" value="http://backend.deviantart.com/embed/view.swf" /><param name="flashvars" value="id=192129819&width=1337" /><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always" /><embed src="http://backend.deviantart.com/embed/view.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="450" flashvars="id=192129819&width=1337" height="360" allowscriptaccess="always"></embed></object><br />
<a href="http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/192129819/">Napa Valley</a> by *<a class="u" href="http://pur3rep0se.deviantart.com/">Pur3Rep0se</a> on <a href="http://www.deviantart.com">deviant</a><a href="http://www.deviantart.com">ART</a><br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.degraeve.com/color-palette/"> Degraeve.com</a> Just input a favourite image and it will pull a vibrant and dull version of a palette. These are the colours that come from that image: <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-qWfK-RHaplM/TgbsLaEi-oI/AAAAAAAAABw/pvoO-Qs846g/s1600/Degraeve%2BColour%2BPalette%2BGenerator.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear:left; float:left;margin-right:1em; margin-bottom:1em"><img border="0" height="300" width="261" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-qWfK-RHaplM/TgbsLaEi-oI/AAAAAAAAABw/pvoO-Qs846g/s320/Degraeve%2BColour%2BPalette%2BGenerator.jpg" /></a></div><br />

<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.colorhunter.com/"> Colorhunter.com</a> This one will also pull a vibrant and dull version of a palette. These are the colours that come from that image: <br />
<br />
Vibrant:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-oR8bNmttPSc/TgbsQK74ClI/AAAAAAAAAB4/oQ2OMpPyPWs/s1600/Colorhunter%2BPalette%2BGenerator.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear:left; float:left;margin-right:1em; margin-bottom:1em"><img border="0" height="82" width="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-oR8bNmttPSc/TgbsQK74ClI/AAAAAAAAAB4/oQ2OMpPyPWs/s320/Colorhunter%2BPalette%2BGenerator.jpg" /></a></div><br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Dull:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-nXZzXFSK0gs/Tgbs-ZFtiCI/AAAAAAAAACI/BxrHXJRbXf4/s1600/Colorhunter%2BPalette%2BGenerator%2BDull.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear:left; float:left;margin-right:1em; margin-bottom:1em"><img border="0" height="81" width="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-nXZzXFSK0gs/Tgbs-ZFtiCI/AAAAAAAAACI/BxrHXJRbXf4/s320/Colorhunter%2BPalette%2BGenerator%2BDull.jpg" /></a></div><br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
As you can see, they are very different palettes. You will have to play with both of them to find the one you like. Another great place to do the same thing is to go on <a href="http://www.colourlovers.com"> Colourlovers.com</a>. All of these options are free to use.<br />
<br />
Enjoy!<br />

These are compact and fun to use!<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.diphso.no/FotoMix.html">FotoMix by Digital Photo Software</a> FotoMix is a free photo manipulator. You can crop, resize, rotate, enhance, mix and manipulate photos. <br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.diphso.no/FotoMorph.html">FotoMorph by Digital Photo Software</a> FotoMorph is a free photo animator. You can create morphing animations and Flash rotation banners. I took it for a test drive and it seems to be pretty easy to understand. Best of all, it's free!<br />
<br />
These aren't 3DS Max or Photoshop, but they are user friendly and free. Sometimes more is just too much. If you are interested in animation or photomanipulation, then take these out for a test drive. They are free and easy to use. They also take much less space in your drive than other ones. <br />
<br />
Have fun!<br />

How many of us have hundreds of fonts and brushes? <-- raises hand.<br />
<br />
It can be a pain to look at the fonts and brushes. If you are doing a series of cards or designs, but forget to write down which font you used. . . it's too painful to even voice out loud. Needless to say, these programs are a life-saver! At the bottom of this post I am linking examples of when I used the programs to determine what I would use for my cards. To view fonts, you can download Font Xplorer for free. It says that it does not support Windows Vista, but is working fine with my Windows Vista 64-bit system. Because mine is 64-bit, very few freeware font viewers work on my computer. Here is the link to download Font Xplorer:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.moonsoftware.com/fxplorer.asp">Font Xplorer</a><br />
<br />
The second program I use is one to show your myriad of Photoshop brushes. Remember, Gimp is capable of using Photoshop brushes. It is called abrMate; named after the Photoshop .abr brush extension. You can find it here:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.texturemate.com/abrMate">abrMate</a><br />
<br />
Here are a few samples of cards that I made while using these tools: <br />
<br />
Font Xplorer allowed me to go through my numerous fonts to determine which one I wanted to use for this card -<br />
<br />
Purple Mom's Day Bear Card<br />

<br />
abrMate allowed me to go through my numerous brushes to determine which one I wanted to use for these cards:<br />

<br />
<br />
<br />
Does anyone notice? Does anyone care that life is found everywhere?<br />
<br />
It sprinkles its essence over us; its force like a river running deep and spreading far. Rushing through us, bleeding into each others' worlds like tributaries spreading out further until we all meet at the ocean that is us.<br />
<br />
We cannot live our lives as islands. We affect each other. The hermit in the woods is affected by the felling of forests. The castaway is found or left for dead; all by the choices we make. <br />
<br />
Know that your choice matters.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
I think that the news affects my dreams. With all the disasters going on in the world and our own complicated lives, I think people can become desensitized to the pain. Don't let that happen.<br />
<br />
Take care,<br />

This could help you choose color themes. Once you've found a color you like, you click it to copy the HEX code. Then you can paste it into whatever design program you are using.<br />

If you go to this site, post a blog about the project and post the icon on your blog, they will plant a tree. This is to help combat the emissions of the computers being used to create and read the blog. It also is a way for them to complete reforestation of National Forests. These are some fun programs. You can use them to help you get over artists block or create some amazing masterpieces with them. Have fun!<br />
<br />
<p><a href="http://mrdoob.com/projects/harmony/">Harmony: Open Source Digital Sketching Program</a></p><br />
This a free web-based program that is basically a blank canvas. You have certain elements you can use such as sketchy, shaded, chrome and fur. What I liked about it is the fact that I can use it to help with artists block. As a writer might use stream of consciousness writing (or free writing) to get past a block, I can use this to just sketch away. Most items might be jibberish and not worth saving, but when you do come up with something good, you can save it. <br />
<br />
<p><a href="http://mypaint.intilinux.com/">MyPaint: Open Source Digital Painting Program</a></p><p><a href="http://wiki.mypaint.info/Brush_Packages">Free brush kits for MyPaint</a></p><br />
MyPaint is fun. It's a light-weight program with brushes. I use my tablet and pen with it, but you can use a mouse and keyboard. It feels like painting. The same techniques you use in "real life" painting, you can do with the digital painting. The brushes can be made bigger or smaller, more opaque or translucent. I like that you can have it open side-by-side with a reference picture. It doesn't take a lot of space for the tools. <br />
<br />
Did I mention both are free? :).::MoonDreams::.http://www.blogger.com/profile/01018949758421862172noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5150781892554521143.post-5226439019683297152011-03-14T03:37:00.001-04:002011-03-28T16:19:48.954-04:00Six Ways You Can Help Earthquake and Tsunami Victims in JapanI have a hard time knowing that something is going so wrong and not being able to be in the thick of the solution. I cannot be in Japan to help those who need it. I can however, make donations and spread the word. Take time out of your lives, read this article and visit the site. If you do not have money to give, do not worry over it. Take care of your family. What you can do is spread the word. That's free to do. <br />

It creates bezier flowers. It opens up in a web page, so you don't need to download anything. Once you are done with your picture, it saves in .png file format. Have fun!<br />
